Basecamp offers a complete export. Take it while the account is live.

- Take the EXPORT before you cancel. Basecamp holds the kind of material people need long after a project ends — decisions, approvals, the reasoning behind a change — and 37signals provides a complete export of it while the account is live. Downloading it afterwards is a support conversation at best. Everything in the account goes with the account: message boards, to-dos, files, chat history and the client-facing threads. If clients or contractors have been working in there, they lose their copy too, so tell them and let them take what they need. Basecamp is billed flat rather than per seat on most plans, so removing people does not reduce the bill — cancelling is the only lever. The account runs to the end of the period already paid for.
