Cancelling HubSpot

About 45 minutes · Very hard

  1. Find your renewal date and read the order form

HubSpot commitments are annual and the notice period is set by your own order form.

  2. EXPORT YOUR CRM DATA — contacts, companies, deals, notes

  3. Export your published content and forms

  4. Submit the cancellation in the account or through your contact, before the notice deadline

  5. Keep the written confirmation and its effective date

Notice period
None — cancelling takes effect straight away. Annual commitments renew automatically; the notice required before renewal is set by the order form.

What happens after you cancel
Two things make this expensive if you get them wrong, and both are about timing and data. TIMING: HubSpot subscriptions are annual commitments that renew automatically, and the notice you must give is written into your ORDER FORM rather than being a standard number. Find your renewal date and read that document. Missing the deadline commits you to another year, not another month. DATA: your CRM is the business. Contacts, companies, deals, the notes and email history attached to them, your forms, your landing pages and your published blog all live inside HubSpot, and exports get harder the closer you are to losing access. Export everything while you are still fully subscribed, and check the export actually contains the associations between records — a list of contacts with no deals attached is not your CRM. If HubSpot hosts your website or blog on its CMS, those pages go down when the subscription does. Move them and repoint the domain first.

What else are you paying for?

Find possible recurring subscriptions in your bank statement. Cancel OS reads a statement export you give it and flags the charges that look recurring, for you to confirm.
