Cancelling MagentaTV

About 20 minutes · Hard

  1. Work out whether MagentaTV is standalone or part of a line contract

Bundled with broadband or mobile, it follows the line contract's terms.

  2. Sign in to the Telekom Kundencenter

  3. Find MagentaTV under your contracts and cancel it

  4. Give the notice and keep the confirmation

  5. Return any MagentaTV box you were lent

Notice period
At least 30 days before your renewal date. Bundled with a Telekom line the minimum term of the line contract applies; standalone streaming plans are monthly.
How you will know it worked
Confirmation email.
What happens after you cancel
MagentaTV is two different things depending on how you bought it, and confusing them costs months. BUNDLED with a Telekom broadband or mobile line, MagentaTV sits inside that contract and inherits its minimum term and its notice period — cancelling the television part does not cancel the line, and the line's own term keeps running. STANDALONE streaming plans are the simple monthly kind. Find which one you have in the Kundencenter before doing anything, because it decides whether this is a click or a notice period. If Telekom lent you a MagentaTV box or a receiver, it has to go back after the contract ends, and unreturned-equipment charges are a common surprise afterwards. Keep the return receipt. German law requires an online cancellation button for contracts concluded online, so a Telekom agent insisting on a phone call is not stating a legal requirement.
