- None — cancelling takes effect straight away. Movistar contracts commonly carry a permanencia — a minimum stay — with a penalty for leaving inside it.

- The word that decides everything here is PERMANENCIA: the minimum-stay commitment Spanish operators attach to a discounted price. Inside it, leaving means paying a penalty calculated from the months remaining. Ask for your permanencia end date and the exact penalty before you agree to anything, because it decides whether this is routine or expensive. Movistar Plus+ standalone streaming is the simple case and stops at the end of the paid month. Movistar Plus+ inside a fusion package with broadband and mobile is not: it follows the line contract, and cancelling the television does not cancel the line. Get a cancellation reference number and keep it. If Movistar lent you a decoder, it has to go back, and unreturned-equipment charges are the usual dispute afterwards.
