- The risk with Vimeo is storage, not access. Paid plans hold far more video than the free tier, and when you drop back, everything above the free limit becomes unavailable — along with the links and embeds pointing at it. If those videos are on a website, in a newsletter or in a course, they break. So download the originals first. Vimeo lets you pull down source files while you are still on the paid plan, and doing it afterwards is much harder. The paid features run to the end of the period already paid for, and an annual plan runs out its year rather than ending early. Vimeo does not refund the unused part. Privacy settings, domain-level privacy and the player customisations are paid features and revert when the plan does.
